Of the many sites providing information about the Katrina disaster, none is more up to date than scipionus.com, a visual wiki tracking the effects of the hurricane.
Wiki open source technology, google maps and the power of users meet at scipionus.com a wiki launched on Wednesday by two computer engineers Jonathan Mendez and Greg Stoll.
Mendez, from New Orleans but now living in Austin, couldn’t find any information about his home on the various public service webs. Finally he decided to put out a wiki linked to Google maps where anyone could provide geographical information about the disaster.
