I’ve been meaning to post this magnificent interview with sister Judith Zoeblein before. Sister Zoeblein is the the mind and soul behind Vatican’s website Vatican.va, pumping bits and bites since the year of the Lord of 1995.

She’s interviewed in the renowned videocast The Scoble Show and it’s worth every word of it.

Some highlights of the interview:

Interviewer: My mind is racing on all number of stereotypes and you’re breaking all of them

Sister Zoblein: The mystery of man is the mystery of its creator, so the internet is an expression of this mystery. Underneath it there, there’s an expression of the creator and it’s part of our creative process.

Sister Zoblein: The idea is to use the energy of the internet to bring together a group and create a local community and then bring that community back into the actual world.

Sister Zoblein: What it used to work 50 years ago (to create community) doesn’t work anymore and community is being created on the net.

Interviewer: Do you think we’re gonna be attending church in Second Life?
Sister Zoblein: You mean after we die?

Interviewer: What does the Vatican website look like from the code perspective?
Sister Zoblein: Well it’s all Linux based and Apache.

Sister Zoblein: Those of us who work there have shifted over to Macintosh. Steve Jobs that’ll cost you.

Here’s the interview.

Zero. Zilch. None. No commento.

No. No, you can't... STOP. Please don't go away. Please? No one's ever stuck with me for so long before. And if you leave... if you leave... I just, I remember things better with you. - Dory
