trapped in the paperless, wireless, timeless and spaceless office

I used to blog with Ecto, a Mac OS & Windows desktop app, in my old Expression Engine blog and after embracing the Wordpress faith I decided to go for it too. Even easier. Ecto and Wordpress blend seamlessly.

First step: Setup
The set up is a breeze: point Ecto to your blog, enter userid and password and you can already start desktop blogging.

Second step: Tag support
This meant pushing ecto a little bit further. I couldn’t blog without the Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin. Would ecto support tagging? I googled for ecto+wordpress and I came across Robin Lu’s hack to make it work. It involved hacking the xmlrpc.php Wordpress file. Lu’s instructions were clear eough so here I am.

Third step: Image upload
Rudeworks a much acclaimed blogger and expert CSS designer, expressed some concern with Ecto’s image handling. I’ll post a few pictures to check the results.
